Maintenance Assessment District

KMAD (Kensington Maintenance Assessment District )

In October 2009, the KTPG elected to form a special KMAD subcommittee to consider the possibility of a Maintenance Assessment District. After several months of consideration, the subcommittee recommeneded to KTPG that a KMAD be created and the KTPG approved that recommendation. However, the subcommittee failed to get enough signatures in the community to bring the matter to a vote within the required time period. Therefore, the 2009-2010 consideration of this matter is closed.

Proposed lighting MAD

There was a public presentation at the KTPG meeting on April 14, 2010 regarding historic street lighting in Kensington.

At the November 9, 2011 KTPG meeting, KTPG heard a presentation from community member Don Taylor on the possible formation of maintenance assessment districts (MAD) in portions of the Kensington neighborhood. The purpose of these proposed MADs would be for street lighting only, in particular to provide for the maintenance, replacement, and installation of non-cobra historic-style lighting. Mr. Taylor presented a cost analysis of lighting MAD and a map of the proposed MAD.
