Aldine Drive Slope Restoration ProjectConstruction Sign

The Aldine Drive Slope Restoration Project (Project No. 152162; Job Order No. 525920) was a project aimed at stopping erosion of a hillside overlooking Aldine Drive. The site is located along the southerly portion of Aldine Drive north of North Talmadge Way, between Van Dyke Avenue and Fairmount Avenue in the RS-1-7 zone of the Central Urbanized Planned District, Kensington/Talmadge of Mid-City Communities Plan. The project involved construction of two concrete retaining walls totaling 750 feet in length and ranging up to twenty feet or more in height.

Construction began in June 2011 and the road was closed through the summer of 2012 with bus routes and other traffic re-routed during the construction period. See the documents and links below for more informaiton.

On February 17, 2011, KTPG received word from the City of San Diego that they would NOT be following the 11 recommendations approved by the KTPG. The City provided these 5 documents:

As of June 1, 2011, the City has some additional documents posted on their website. These have not been reviewed in detail by KTPG or any KTPG subcommittee.

In early 2012, with the wall having been completed, KTPG successfully lobbied the City of San Diego to apply grafitti-resistant coatings to the wall. At the May 9, 2012 KTPG meeting, there is to be a vote on a proposed Thank You Letter concerning the grafitti-proofing.
