Voter Eligibility

The KTPG modified their bylaws to make it easier to vote in the KTPG elections

  • There is no requirement to have attended a KTPG meeting in the past
  • You still must register with the KTPG and provide the appropriate identification
    • For residents, only a government issued photo ID showing an address within the boundaries of the Kensington-Talmadge community is required.
    • If you are a resident, but have not updated your government issued photo ID, your existing ID may be combined with other identification such as a copy or an original utility or property tax bill, or 1st class mail addressed to the voter and delivered within the past 30 days.
    • For Property Owners who live out of the area, Government-issued photo identification plus documentation showing proof of property ownership within the Kensington-Talmadge boundaries is required. This can be done with an original or copy of a current property tax bill or deed.
    • Business operators who do not own their place of business must show proof of eligibility to vote on behalf of the business to the Elections Subcommittee on the night of election. This can be done with a letter of authorization on business letterhead.
  • For more informaiton, including detailed election rules and procedures, please see the KTPG bylaws.
  • KTPG Election Subcommittee January Meeting Report

The Election Subcommittee did not produce written notes from their January meeting. The following is a communication from David Moty, chair of the Election Subcommittee.

Over 130+ people are eligible to run for the KTPG board this March.

Rather than phoning eligible members of the public to ascertain their intentions, the Elections Subcommittee will be sending out an email to those who have provided an email address to the Secretary. This is a change from what was done last year when the number of eligible people was much lower.

The cut off date for a candidate having his or her name printed on the official ballot will be the evening of February 24th when the Election Subcommittee will meet again to finalize the ballot.

The ballot will be in alphabetical order.

In the interest of speed, the Election Subcommittee decided that speeches will be given in reverse alphabetical order rather than having speakers chosen from a hat.

At the February 10th meeting, the Election Subcommittee will be requesting volunteers to work on election night. We hope to get four or five more people besides the the members of the Election Subcommittee to volunteer to work that evening.

Shortly before the election, we hope to have the chair send out a community wide email to educate voters on the current requirements for ID.

    Regards,
    David Moty
